Twenty-four individuals sustained injuries, and hundreds were evacuated following a collision between two subway trains on the Upper West Side Thursday afternoon, resulting in the derailment of both trains, according to officials.

The incident occurred when a northbound 1 train, carrying up to 500 passengers, was departing from the 96th Street station after 3 p.m.
