The successful evacuation of Japan Airlines Flight 516 has been attributed to passengers complying with the flight crew's instructions. The incident occurred when the aircraft collided with a coastguard plane at Haneda Airport in Tokyo, catching fire following the collision. Five of the six people on board the smaller aircraft, which was filled with aid supplies for Japan's recent earthquake victims, died. Aviation experts and flight crew credit the swift evacuation to the rigorous training of the flight crew. They emphasized the passenger's support in following all safety procedures, which included leaving their hand luggage behind. Despite the challenging circumstances, all 379 people on board were evacuated safely. An investigation into the collision is underway.
