On Wednesday, the United States, Britain, and crucial allies jointly issued a definitive caution to the Houthi Yemeni rebel group, urging them to halt their assaults on international shipping in the Red Sea or face the impending consequences.

“Ongoing Houthi attacks in the Red Sea are illegal, unacceptable, and profoundly destabilizing,” says the statement issued by more than a dozen nations. “The Houthis will bear the responsibility of the consequences should they continue to threaten lives, the global economy, and free flow of commerce in the region’s critical waterways.”

U.S. officials state that the military has prepared potential actions to target the Iran-backed rebel group.

If the United States, Britain, and other nations opt for the use of force, possible targets may encompass launchers for antiship missiles and drones, infrastructure like coastal radar installations, and storage facilities for munitions.

Officials acknowledge the difficulty in targeting Houthi assets due to the mobility of many of their weapons systems, the Wall Street Journal reported.
