A Hamas office in the Lebanese city of Beirut was struck by an Israeli drone, raising concerns that the conflict could escalate into a broader regional war.

Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) said: “‘Four people were martyred and a number of others injured when the Hamas office was targeted.”

The strike targeted Dahiyeh, a stronghold of the Iranian-backed Hezbollah in Beirut’s southern suburbs.

Israel has not officially claimed responsibility for the attack, but a U.S. Defense official informed The Washington Post that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) were behind the strike.

According to Hezbollah TV, Saleh al Arouri, the deputy chairman of Hamas’s political bureau, was killed in the strike, the Daily Express reported.
