Turmoil Erupts at Del Amo Fashion Center: Unruly Gathering Prompts Arrests and Injuries

On December 31st, chaos unfolded at the Del Amo Fashion Center as around 1,000 youths gathered, resulting in the arrest of five juveniles and injuries to two individuals, including a police officer.
Despite the sizable crowd, there were no instances of looting or vandalism. The disturbance commenced at approximately 4:31 p.m., leading to the closure of surrounding streets for over seven hours as law enforcement worked diligently to disperse the crowd, engaging multiple agencies in the process.
The five individuals taken into custody, consisting of three girls and two boys, originate from nearby cities such as Hawthorne, Los Angeles, Gardena, and Compton. Chief Jay Heart of the Torrance Police expressed disappointment, emphasizing that such disorderly conduct does not align with the values of the Torrance community.
