GFY #16 - Belgrade revolution?

Today I decided to travel to Belgrade. This week I received some messages from people that asked me if the revolution had started in Serbia. I looked on the internet for more information and found that a protest was planned in Belgrade today.

I have voted with my wallet for a decade now and managed to pick the winning team quite often. This makes it more easy to vote with your feet and made it possible for me to find out what all the fuzz is about and go to Belgrade myself to see with my own eyes what is going on.

At arrival there was nobody, I asked a police officer if I maybe made a mistake, but he ensured me that the revolution would start at 18.00 o'clock. I made a video and did some shopping and got back at around 18.00 to see how many people would show up.

This video was made around 18.30 when I decided to travel back. I also made the decision to not upload the original video I made for today where I explain the political situation of Serbia in more detail and what the protest is about.

Democracy died a long time ago and fake news is able to distract the majority of people with divide and conquer. To really make a change a protest will not help, just like voting will not make a real change, for if it would, it would have been made illegal by now. If you vote, you give somebody else control of your will and because I believe too many bad things happen that way, I have decided to take responsibility for my own action and not give away my will to a politician.

The media is a powerful tool that is used to change perception of people. If you protest the outcome of elections and the media is in your favor, you are a hero, but if you protest the outcome of elections and the media is against you, you can be labelled a domestic terrorist.
