12/30/23 card: don’t compare

The quick answer is EVERYONE! So much anxiety and negative self talk has been bouncing around my brain the last few days. I accomplished a huge goal. I published a book. It’s available on Amazon. This is HUGE. And I struggle to allow myself to feel the joy of accomplishment because of intruding thoughts like “what if no one buys it” or “what if people buy it and think it’s trash?” I’m thinking of the scene in the movie Carrie where her mom taunts her with “they’re all gonna laugh at you!” My beautiful and wise daughter reminded me that the goal was to publish a book. Nothing more and nothing less. I’ve done that.
