Why are Western leaders silent on deaths of Christians in Gaza?

Multiple well known Christian sites have been deliberately targeted and destroyed by IDF forces.

The Pope denounced it as terrorism so why is the United States government still providing weapons and support for the indiscriminate killing of civilians?

Italy criticises Israel over deadly Gaza church shooting

In a rare show of criticism against Israel, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has slammed Israeli forces for shooting two women dead inside a church in Gaza.

"A [Israeli] sniper shot two women inside a church. This has nothing to do with the fight against Hamas because the terrorists are certainly not hiding in Christian churches," Tajani said.

His comment came after the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem said a woman and her daughter were killed "in cold blood" at the compound of the Holy Family Church in the strip. He added that seven people were wounded, while an Israeli air raid damaged a convent where 54 disabled people were sheltering.

The incident drew harsh criticism from Pope Francis, who suggested Israel was using "terrorism" tactics in Gaza.

Around noon today, December 16, 2023 a sniper of the IDF murdered two Christian women inside the Holy Family Parish in Gaza, where the majority of Christian families has taken refuge since the start of the war. Nahida and her daughter Samar were shot and killed as they walked to the Sister's Convent.

One was killed as she tried to carry the other to safety. Seven more people were shot and wounded as they tried to protect others inside the church compound. No warning was given, no notification was provided. They were shot in cold blood inside the premises of the Parish, where there are no belligerents.

The Christian heads of churches in Jerusalem continued to raise public concerns that the Christian presence and Holy Sites in Jerusalem were under threat.

The statements identified pressure points on Christians that included violence and harassment against clergy and worshipers by Israeli extremists; vandalism and desecration of church properties; attempts by settler organizations to obtain strategic property in and around the Christian quarter of the Old City and the Mount of Olives; and restrictions on residency permits for Palestinians as part of Israel's Citizenship and Entry Law.

This law remained an especially acute problem, according to church leaders, because of the small Christian population and consequent tendency to marry other Christians from the West Bank or elsewhere (i.e., Christians who held neither citizenship nor residency).
