Commuters on the New York City subway may have observed a recent addition to the transit system: a robotic presence named K5.

Positioned as a crime-fighting mechanism, K5 is intended to enhance the safety and security of the subway environment.

However, the question arises: is it truly advantageous to have a robot overseeing our surroundings? Standing at 64.5 inches tall and weighing 420 pounds, K5 resembles a sizable cone equipped with wheels.

Its features include four ultra-HD (4K) cameras providing complete 360-degree visibility, a thermal camera for detecting variations in heat, LED lights, 16 microphones, and an amplified PA speaker/horn.

Operating autonomously and navigating around obstacles and individuals at a maximum speed of 3 miles per hour, K5 is accompanied by an officer during its movements and includes a docking station, Fox News reported.
