Gotham Knights is an action role-playing game developed by WB Games Montréal and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Inspired by the Batman: Gotham Knights comic series based on the DC Comics character Batman and his supporting cast, the game focuses on the characters Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Red Hood as they attempt to restore justice to Gotham City during a period of decline in the immediate aftermath of Batman's death. While investigating Batman's disappearance, the heroes come into conflict with the ancient Court of Owls and their legion of assassins. The game was released on October 21, 2022, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It received mixed reviews from critics, with criticism for its general gameplay design and story, although its co-op mode and the characterization of the lead characters received praise. Players can level up their characters, but enemies will be automatically leveled up as well. They can also use vehicles such as the Batcycle to explore the city. During the daytime, players will occupy the Belfry, which acts as the team's base of operations and allows players to switch characters and prepare for the next mission by managing progression, and upon leaving the Belfry, the game will fast forward to the nighttime

The game is set in Gotham City, Batman is ambushed in the Batcave by his nemesis Ra's al Ghul and is mortally wounded. With no way to win against Ra's, Batman seals him in the Batcave with himself and then self-destructs the base, resulting in both of their deaths. Batman's death triggers a Code Black contingency, which summons Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Hood, and Robin. As his final act, Batman bequeaths a backup base called the Belfry as well as the files of all of his investigations, telling his students that Gotham will need them more than ever once the criminal underworld notices Batman has gone missing. Determined to carry on Batman's will, the four heroes band together to form the Gotham Knights.
