Improved Visibility in National Capital Region: Despite an ongoing cold wave in North India, visibility in the national capital region was relatively better than on the previous Wednesday.

Dense Fog Impact: A band of thick fog affected cities, towns, and villages, causing significant visibility issues in New Delhi and leading to hazardous air quality with an air quality index (AQI) of 386.

Airport Delays: Delhi Airport experienced delays for approximately 134 flights, both domestic and international, due to the dense fog, causing disruptions in air travel.

Red Alert by Meteorological Department: A red alert was issued by India's Meteorological Department for dense fog not only in Delhi but also in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Chandigarh. Additionally, a yellow alert was issued in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

Accidents and Pileups: The intense fog contributed to accidents, including a massive pileup on the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh, where 12 vehicles crashed. Similar incidents were reported in Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab, causing injuries and damage to several vehicles.
