The Maryland State Highpoint lies right next to the border with West Virginia. Hoye-Crest has an elevation of 3360 feet. It sits along the ridge of Backbone Mountain in the Appalachian Mountain Range. The trail to the summit begins off of Route 219 south of the hamlet of Silver Lake, West Virginia. The hike then continues for one mile across the Maryland-West Virginia state line to the high point’s viewing area. At the summit, there's a Maryland historical marker, a picnic table, and a signin mailbox. Come along for the hike as we highpoint across our Nation!
