Russia has completed testing its new Coalition SV autonomous artillery units in the northern military district, sharing borders with Finland and Norway.
The mass manufacturing of these artillery units has commenced, with the first pilot batch expected to be delivered by the end of 2023.
The Chairman of Rosk State Defense mentioned that these autonomous artillery units are crucial for the Russian forces in providing an advantage over Western artillery models, specifically in terms of firing range.
The autonomous howitzers have a range of up to 70 kilometers, equipped with a modern 152 mm caliber cannon with a firing rate of over 10 rounds per minute. They also feature an automated system for gun pointing, target selection, and navigation.
The deployment of these artillery units follows a recent Russian offensive, including a strike on a train station in the Ukrainian city of K, resulting in casualties. The situation is now reported to be under control, with the railway station functioning again. The attacks come amid escalating tensions, including a Ukrainian attack on a Russian warship in the occupied Crimea Port of Fosa Cave.
