Servants of the Kingdom; Luke 12:35-40

Delivered during the Sunday Morning Worship Service, 12/17/2023. In what might seem to be a dramatic change of topic, Jesus begins to teach His disciples of the importance of "readiness" for His Second Coming. But as we delve more deeply into the text we will find the themes of sanctification, discipleship, and especially living with a Kingdom perspective, continue to be His focus. To explain this, Jesus will teach two parables of readiness and watchfulness. We will carefully analyze these parables and find that Jesus is introducing yet another aspect of what it means to live as a Kingdom-Dwellers. We will realize that often the value system of the Kingdom is seemingly "upside-down" to that of world-- for tireless servanthood is one of its greatest virtues. If there was ever a message that both the world and the church needs to hear right now-- it is this one! So let's allow Jesus to teach us what it means to be a true leader in the Kingdom of God-- as we learn together to be ever-watchful, ever-ready, Christ-like Servants of the Kingdom.
