Meditation 33: I Poured Out Into the Night

“I poured out into the night, and took the long way to your house. You were gone, and so I left. Your tattoo means nothing now even though I enlisted to forget what I came there for. In the midst of that waking dawn hot tears ran down my face. I crossed the fields and soon recalled how I grew from a boy and into a man.”~Michael Kurcina

Life for most youth is an exciting albeit confusing time. We’re trying to figure out who we are, who we want to be with, and where we want to go. We may go singly or with friends to map out the story of our life but ultimately the journey is ours and ours alone. You are not alone. Life gets better and you’ll experience highs and lows. Hopefully you’ll have jobs and mentors that are meaningful to you in a positive way. Likely you’ll conquer more things than you realize you are capable of. Keep your mind open to being surprised, and pleased at simple things. Hold the ideas of virtue and enterprise in your heart and mind. Carry a lantern for others to follow when you’ve figured it out. Pull men up from the darkness and love someone everyday as if it’s your last day on earth. Yes, life is confusing at times but once in a while you’ll be floored by how much of it makes sense. Hold onto those good & profound things of your life deep into your chest and leave the baseless behind where it belongs. When you look back you’ll appreciate how you grew from a boy into a man.
