Jacob flees his home as to remain unharmed by his brother Esau. Issac commands him to go to the family of Rebekah's brother's household to find a wife. It is on this journey that the Lord appears to Jacob in a dream, upon a ladder that connects heaven to earth, extending the promises of Abraham and to a vow to keep him safe. Jacob also makes a vow, that "if" God will provide and protect him, then he will make the Lord his God. Do you also make if/then promises to God?
