On the day of Christmas eve, Finland Declares Christmas Peace, from the old marketplace of Turku. This tradition is from the middle ages, and still living.
The event is normally heavily crowded and broadcasted live, and all finns quiet down to watch and take heed. This record is from 2020.
Since The Finnish Public Service Media Company doesn't know english subtitles, and neglects foreign-speaking audiences, I took the liberty to subtitle this ceremony and share it so that everyone can understand!
Today, year 2023, the marketplace is packed once more, with no covid restrictions - hooray!
