John Chapter 5

Pastor Jason preached from John 5. In this book we find the story of a miracle where Jesus visited healing pools and performed a miracle by telling a man to “pick up his mat and walk.”
This man believed a myth of human religion (that the waters of this pool could heal the first person to enter it). This myth had nothing to do with the mercy of God. He was living in a state of hopelessness.
False religions always rely on some human achievement to please God. So when our systems fail, we fall back on blaming ourselves that we did not do enough to please God.
But God does not work that way and He does not follow human rules or human expectations. He brings grace without a catch. The Lord brings healing, it doesn’t rely on human abilities.
As a human we have no ability to save ourself, but God chooses to give that gift to us freely if we just choose Him.
