Long-Range Military Aviation Day

Today is Long-Range Military Aviation Day (DA -дальней авиации), established in 1999 by order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Air Force.
110 years ago, in 1914, by order of Tsar Nicholas II, the decision was approved to form a squadron of Ilya Muromets heavy bombers, in fact planes born from an idea by aircraft designer Igor Sikorsky (that Sikorsky who contributed to the fortune of the American company of the same name that he himself expatriated to America after the Russian Revolution).
