An unexpected strike by French workers at Eurotunnel, the undersea link between Britain and continental Europe, interrupted cross-Channel rail traffic on Thursday (December 21), threatening the Christmas holiday plans of many travellers.

Eurotunnel unions have announced the end of their strike and traffic will resume on Thursday night, BFM TV reported.

Travellers were stranded at the high-speed train terminal in London. One passenger said he will be delayed seeing his family.

The protest over bonus pay caused massive disruptions on the busy London-Paris route.
