As of 1:04 am CST on Wednesday, December 13, Mercury is now officially retrograde!

Every year, Mercury is normally retrograde three times. As seen from the vantage point of Earth, the planet Mercury appears to periodically reverse its motion in the zodiac and to persist in that apparent backward motion for about three weeks.

Retrograde Mercury is well known for its trickster characteristics. Yet, although retrograde Mercury surely represents a period of time in which our senses can fool us, it also represents a passage in time during which profound encounters with the unknown may occur.

When this condition is in effect, the human mind experiences a shift in consciousness, allowing for perception of a different space, world, time, or dimension. It is in these moments that the world of cosmic space travelers may be glimpsed. In eleven well-known historical ufo encounters which occurred while Mercury appeared in retrograde motion, this is exactly what happened.
