California’s lieutenant governor on Wednesday sent a letter calling for the secretary of state to explore options for taking President Donald Trump’s name off California’s 2024 presidential primary ballot. 

Four years ago Gavin Newsom signed SB 27, a bill to deny presidential candidates a spot on the ballot if they hadn't released their tax returns. The State Supreme Court promptly and unanimously struck the law down.
