In this episode, Cicely further explores the ills of the Black monolith and the factors leading to her departure from the Democrat party. Feeling optimistic at the time of his election about the first Black president, she shares her one-time enthusiasm for Barack Obama. While in office, however, Obama worsened race relations in America, and catalyzed a new set of low expectations for Blacks in America—resulting in Cicely's eventual vote for his GOP challenger.
