Footage has been released of a Sonoma County Sheriff’s Deputy who was driving on Highway 1 just north of Jenner, was flagged down by citizens reporting a vehicle off the roadway. The Deputy, who is a resident Coast Deputy assigned to the area, reported that the vehicle was upside down and in a ravine. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Helicopter, Henry-1, had just launched to conduct an air patrol. Henry-1 conducts air patrols throughout the day to be in the air and available to respond quickly for emergency calls such as this. Henry-1 arrived within 9 minutes of the Deputy locating the vehicle. Henry-1 landed on Highway 1 and configured the helicopter for a rescue with a 100-foot long line. The pilot flew the two Tactical Flight Officer’s (TFO), who are required to be Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), to the victim. The victim was assessed, packaged into a Hot Seat Rescue Device and flown to nearby Monte Rio Fire Department and Sonoma County Fire District Ambulance personnel.
