Prepare for a hard-hitting critique from Col. Wilkerson as we pull no punches on the topic of 'dumb bombs' sold by the U.S. to Israel.

These unguided munitions, some weighing a staggering 2,000 pounds, are causing indiscriminate and devastating damage.

We question the disturbing trend of civilian casualties and the financial incentives behind these deals.

We critically analyze why these weapons, deemed unfit for U.S. use, are sold to other nations and contrast this with the advanced technology U.S. utilizes on their own munitions for increased accuracy.

We also scrutinize the alarming consequences of Saudi Arabia's use of these munitions against the Houthis, which has resulted in tragedies like bombs dropping on school buses.

An engaging segment of our conversation dissects a response from Jake Sullivan, as he attempts to defend the use of 'dumb bombs'.

We tackle the absurdity of his statement and the appalling reality of civilian casualties, including children.

The colonel passionately disputes the idea that Israel can effectively distinguish between civilian and military targets.

So, join us as we navigate these complex and contentious issues, shedding light on a topic often shrouded in the shadows of international politics.

CNN's Alex Marquardt asks National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan about Israel using "dumb bombs" in Gaza and what the United States' stance is on this.

Question

Almost half of the 30,000 bombs that have been dropped on Gaza have been called dumb bombs in precise.

If there was a real intent to protect civilian's wouldn’t they be using much more precise smaller munitions?

US National Security Advisor - U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel. U.S.

Jake Sullivan

Answered

When it comes to the issue of the bombs, the type of bombs, that Israel is using, what I would say is;

That, different types of munitions require different types of military operations, meaning the method by which bombs are delivered that don’t have the tail kits on them, is different.

In terms of how the planes fly, in terms of how the targets are selected, and they all go through the same process.

A process by which Israel selects targets and tries to distinguish between targets that hit Hamas and those that might take the life’s of innocent civilians.

At the end of the day what we have consistently said is that Israel has the intent to make sure that it is drawing those distinctions clearly and in a stainable way, and we want to see the results match up to that, that’s a conversation I had in full with them today and yesterday as well, and will continue to do that.

Including on the type of munitions they use and when they use a certain type of munition how those are delivered.

To ensure that from the United States perspective, they are fulfilling their obligations their responsibilities as a state to international humanitarian law.

I think that was an absurd response.

Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson

Jake otta stick to things he knows something about.

That is an absurd response.

If anything, I think from that response is, okay if that’s true;

And, some 20,000 civilians half of whom are children have been killed.

Are you saying that the Israelis are making the distinction so that they drop the more accurate bombs on civilians and houses, hotels, hospitals, and other places, is that what you are saying?

Because they sure are killing a whole hell of a lot of civilians.
