In Mark chapter 7, Jesus is doing just that. When confronted with talmudic judaic teachings called the traditions of the elders, The teachings of the elders cammanded EXTRA WASHING, as they here condemn Jesus and the disciples for not doing extra hand washing. Their hands were already clean.
Jesus confrontation is at the very heart of the gospels because it posits a powerful institutional form of scriptual nullification. Making void the word of God. ( to destroy christianity)
