Giving Christmas Through Love
Speaker - Owen Mason
Sermon Notes

Matthew 5:5 5 Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Proverbs 16:32 32 Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.

What is meekness.
Meekness is not weakness.
Meekness is strength under control.
Happy are those who do not over react.
How do I control my reactions?

2 Tomothy 1:7 7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. Power controlled by love. Four ways will help:

When someone wants to serve you be understanding not demanding.

Philippians 2:4-5 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,
1 Peter 3:4,7 4 but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious. 7 Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

When someone disappoints you be gentle not judgmental.

Romans 14:1 14 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions.
Galatians 6:1-2 6 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. 2 Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

When somebody disagrees with you be there without surrender.

Proverbs 15:1 15 A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
James 3:16-17 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. 17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.
2 Timothy 2:24-25 24 And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, 25 correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth,
When someone corrects you be teachable not unreachable.

James 1:19 19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;
Proverbs 13:18 18 Poverty and disgrace come to him who ignores instruction, but whoever heeds reproof is honored.
