Soccer player killed by lightning mid-game in Brazil

It was a tragic game.

In a horrifying scene, crowds watched a massive bolt of lightning striking soccer players in real-time during a match in Santo Antonio da Platina, leaving the field littered with collapsed players and officials rushing to get everyone to safety as a second lightning strike seemed possible at any moment.

According to local police, one player, 21-year-old Caio Henrique de Lima Goncalves, was transported to the hospital but later died of his injuries, and six others have been under medical observation ever since.
