The Cannonball Run (1981) Original U.S. Theatrical Trailer - All-Star Classic Comedy

This is the original 1981 U.S. theatrical movie trailer to the classic 1981 film "The Cannonball Run". It's still one of my favorite movies from my childhood, and it was one of the top grossing films of '81 ($72,179,579 in the U.S. & Canada), in spite of most film critics hating it. Meh, I never was a fan of Siskel and Ebert. I saw it 3 times in the theater and constantly on HBO in the early 80's.

It was directed by Hal Needham (Smokey and the Bandit, Hooper), produced by Hong Kong's Golden Harvest films, and distributed by 20th Century-Fox. Filmed in Panavision, it features an all-star ensemble cast, including Burt Reynolds, Dom DeLuise, Roger Moore, Farrah Fawcett, Jackie Chan, Adrienne Barbeau, Sammy Davis, Jr., Dean Martin Terry Bradshaw, Mel Tillis and Jamie Farr. The film is based on the 1979 running of the Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash, an actual cross-country outlaw road race beginning in Connecticut and ending in California.

It was followed by two sequels which were both critical and box office disappointments - Cannonball Run II (1984) and Speed Zone (1989).

in 2016, Warner Bros. purchased the rights to remake the original.. But they should just leave it alone. The original is still funny and one of Burt Reynold's
best comedies.
