This video contains the files « Ed Peterman clip01.avi » to « Ed Peterman clip14.avi » which have been released to the public by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), as well as some additional footage, which was released through NIST FOIA #09-42 request, and which is not available on NIST's cloud server.

Videographer: Ed Peterman
Locations: Battery Place & Battery Park City (North Cove Marina), Manhattan, NY
Time: before 09h00 - 10h00 a.m. EDT, September 11, 2001; and on September 14.

Among the tons of footage that have been shot by numerous videographers on that day, only some videos include ground-level views from the South or from the West. Ed Peterman's limited footage offers us both of them. He started shooting from Battery Place at the southern tip of Manhattan. Then he walked waterfront along Battery Park City Esplanade north to the North Cove Marina, until he ran from the dust cloud of the first collapse, and returned to the southern tip of the city.

I established the date 'September 14' for the last two shots. There was no precipitation in New York between September 11 and 13. However, in the morning of September 14, a Friday, there was light rain, and we notice that the asphalt is moist, and the sky is covered with clouds in those shots.

I refrain from digital image manipulation. In my opinion, any so-called 'enhancement', as observed in similar video creations elsewhere, is tampering with evidence. I consider this video document as material evidence in the disaster investigation. My objective is to use as much raw footage as ever available for a highly authentic document, and to avoid edited material if possible. I also conserved artifacts 'as is', and the FOIA patches which I may use may have encountered earlier compression losses.
However, I adapted all footage to NTSC standard (SD), doubled the frame rate to 59.94 fps (60000/1001), and tried to restore the audio, if possible, when necessary. Though working with, whenever possible, uncompressed footage, Rumble is using their own encoding service and compression standards.

This video has been created for exclusively educational, non-profit purposes.
Dedicated to the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and in the aftermath of that day. May they rest in Peace.
Thank you for taking the time to inform yourself.
