There’s a journalist who has published leaked documents exposing corruption, waste, fraud & abuse of power, illegal activities by government officials, censorship by media, targeted cyber surveillance of journalists & activists,& mishandling of elections. Sound familiar?
Chernoh Bah could be called the Assange of Sierra Leone. Editor-in-chief Africanist Press, he is also a post-doc fellow at Northwestern University, where he is working on a project examining the “illicit financial flows”-aka money laundering-over decades in Sierra Leone & the Mana river region.
This story, told in 3 parts, involves current US officials, a US lobbying firm which includes a former US congressman, a former communications manager for the Trump transition team, a former producer for the CBS evening news, a US defense contractor hired as National Security Advisor in Sierra Leone (they can do that??) & Cognyte, a cyber-surveillance company known for its targeting of journalists & violation of human rights in Myanmar & India.
It’s been a long time since I’ve been in front of a camera so please don’t let the fact that I sound a little bit like Max Headroom (hey, I can edit! 😬) distract from this very important story!
Part 3 is the cybersecurity part of the story. Ever heard of Unit 8200?
They can hack your car.😮
Vault 7? 🤔
