The company's founder was sued. The legendary mascot and founder of KFC, Colonel Sanders, sold his business to a group of investors in 1964 for $2 million. He was first happy to have them spread the word about his famous chicken recipe to more people, but things quickly soured. The new owners prioritized cost-cutting over preserving quality. They determined that the original recipe by Sanders was too expensive and substituted cheaper ingredients instead. Sanders was obviously angry when he immediately realized the difference. He decided to handle things himself rather than accept the change and opened up a competing restaurant under his wife's name, the Colonel's Lady Dinner House. Once the new owners heard about They sued Sanders over the copyright of his name. And as revenge, Sanders filed a 122 million dollar lawsuit against KFC for using his images to advertise the new recipes. In the end, Sanders received $1 million in an out-of-court settlement. But we still may never know what the original fried chicken tastes like.#KFC #kfcchicken
