Dwarf planets are celestial bodies that orbit the Sun, but do not have enough mass to be the dominant ones in their regions. They also have rounded shapes due to their own gravity. In our solar system, there are five recognized dwarf planets: Ceres, Pluto, Haumea, Makemake and Eris. Ceres is the only one that lies in the asteroid belt, between Mars and Jupiter. The other four lie beyond Neptune, in the Kuiper belt, and are called plutoids.
