Furniture Bank building tables, collecting plates for people transitioning out of homelessness

A local business is making sure that Tri-Staters working to overcome homelessness have something to eat on -- and something to eat with -- this holiday season. New Life Furniture Bank, which helps people transitioning out of homelessness find furniture to turn their new residences into homes, is working to create over 100 new dining room tables and donate hundreds of place settings in time for the holidays. "I was living in an empty apartment on an air mattress," client Teresa Newby said, indicating the furniture that helped her transform the apartment in question. "I'm very grateful for it. It's a blessing." The furniture bank's executive director, Dana Saxton, said dozens of volunteers will help construct the tables she hopes to donate, but the needs of homeless people in Greater Cincinnati still exceeds their ability to help. "The families we work with have lost everything due to these devastating circumstances," Saxton said. "They're incredibly grateful and thrilled for the furniture and household items we provide for them."
