How Cats Show Their Love | Cat Care

Everybody loves their cats but have you really wondered if your cat loves you?

Well, it's hard to know exactly what a cat's underlying emotional state is but you can certainly see if your cat prefers to hang out with you.

One way that you can tell if they enjoy being with you is they'll do things like Fry is doing right now which is leaning in to petting. She's soliciting petting by being present. She has actually got plenty of places she can go right now and I'm not keeping her here but instead she's staying beside me. And when I stop petting her, she moves her head over into my hand. So that's a really good sign that she's enjoying this interaction that we're having together.

Of course, many really bonded cats also know when you're gone. They come running when you open the door and they want to interact and greet you when you come home. Kind of like a dog but not in exactly the same way.

Cat's also like to sit on people's laps and just generally hang out with them in a nice calm way so if a cat's coming up to you, even if it doesn't like to be petted, for instance if you know that if you pet it like this it's going to turn around and bite you eventually, they still may really enjoy sitting on your lap without any touching.

Many cats also like to rest with their friends. So if your cat sleeps with you, it's a pretty good sign that your cat's enjoying hanging out with you.
