John Adams, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin all emphasize the importance of acknowledging God and Jesus as the supreme rulers.

They emphasize the duty of nations to obey God's will, be grateful for His benefits, and implore His protection and favor. Jesus, in John 8, spoke to them, saying that he is the light of the world, and those who follow him will not walk in darkness but have the light of life.

Thomas Jefferson questioned the security of a nation's liberties, arguing that they are the gift of God and cannot be violated by His wrath. Isaiah 61 and Luke 4 both emphasize the Spirit of the Lord's anoinment to preach good tidings, heal brokenhearted, proclaim liberty, and open prisons. Benjamin Franklin, on the other hand, emphasizes the importance of good works and the eternal happiness in heaven, stating that even the imperfect pleasures we enjoy in this world are from God's goodness rather than our merit.
