We finally tackle the day we've been avoiding... Bring on the Cabin Bathroom Build- Spooky! Time Time to Fix up our Cabin in the Woods!✨🛠 But first, if you've been wondering whether or not to get a wood-burning stove, we can now answer definitively: YES! Our whole cabin has been transformed and feels so much more cozy. An added bonus is that it dries out the air, which can be a problem in the winter when things get unexpectedly damp. We are now officially ready for winter! It can feel isolating without the safety net of heat and electricity a city can provide, especially when you're living off the grid on 15 acres of property (4046 sq m / .4 hectare). Today we're determined to try to finish the bathroom in one go. Every time we try, we're pulled in 10 different directions, but we have to get it done because we can't keep using an out house in the freezing Canadian winters. And as breath-takingly beautiful as it is to shower in nature, we'll eventually need a proper indoor shower. We started out with a layer of RedGard for the tile, which is a "waterproofing and crack prevention membrane" that will help prevent cracks with movement. It's not always necessary for an entire bathroom, but ours is so small that we decided to go all in! Next comes a layer of ditra for more waterproofing, and that requires a lot of waiting for it to dry. So we tackled the electric lines from the solar to the electric house! Whew!
