BNDES has 1 billion to restore the Amazon and the “Curupira Project” returns in its 7th stage
In an announcement made during the 28th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP-28) in Dubai, BNDES launched the “Amazon Restoration Arc” in partnership with the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MMA). The first action consists of the “Restaura Amazônia” notice, which will allocate R$450 million from the Amazon Fund to ecological restoration projects in deforested or degraded areas. Organizations will be selected to act as managing partners in the micro-regions of Mato Grosso and Tocantins, Pará and Maranhão, and Acre, Amazonas and Rondônia. The first phase aims to restore 6 million hectares, capturing 1.65 billion tons of carbon by 2030. With this initiative, the Rondônia Micro and Small Industry Union (SIMPI) once again offers member companies the “Curupira Forest Recreation Project the Amazon”, now in its 7th stage, which aims to implement systems to transform areas of capoeiras or totally degraded areas, or even pasture areas into economically productive areas with the planting of native essences or those that can be used for the production of hardwood. for future sale, promoting income generation via the international market. It provides for a commercial partnership between the rural producer and investors interested in having a stock of future wood, where the small producer plants and cares for the trees and the investor makes available, in addition to fertilizers and seedlings, a monthly amount for system maintenance. When the sales season arrives, the rural producer keeps half of the production. With this, the forest wins, the investor wins and the rural producer, in addition to the fixed monthly income, will have a retirement he never dreamed of having.
