A new study by Johns Hopkins Medicine suggests that epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a compound found in green tea, could be a promising treatment for uterine fibroids. The study found that EGCG reduced the protein levels of fibronectin, a protein involved in fibroid growth, by up to 52%. Additionally, EGCG disrupted pathways involved in fibroid tumor cell growth, movement, signaling and metabolism. These results suggest that EGCG may be an effective way to treat and prevent uterine fibroids.
