An investigation is underway after Amory Police officers were involved in a shooting on Wednesday.

According to a post by Amory Police on Facebook, officers were involved in an exchange of gunfire. The officers are okay, according to the post, and the suspect is dead.

According to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, officers were called to Tschudi Road in Amory around 7 p.m. Wednesday regarding someone shooting a weapon.

When they got there, the shooter began to fire a weapon towards the officers. Officers shot back, hitting and killing the suspect, according to MBI.

Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley later identified the person as Shaqwan Cribbs, 22, of Amory.

MBI is investigating and will share their findings with the Attorney General's Office.

WTVA 9 News was able to obtain non-law enforcement dashcam footage that shows Cribbs walking along the side of the road moments before the shooting.

One officer walks toward Cribbs. A second officer is about to exit a second police vehicle. It's unclear if Cribbs is holding a weapon. One officer raises an arm; however, it's unclear if the officer is pointing at something or someone or holding a gun or stun gun.
