On Thursday, charges of manslaughter and fleeing an officer were brought against the 42-year-old son of U.S. Sen. Kevin Cramer.

The incident occurred when a police pursuit led to a crash, resulting in the tragic death of a North Dakota sheriff’s deputy.

According to court documents, Ian Cramer, residing in Bismarck, was traveling at speeds exceeding 100 mph with two flat tires when his vehicle collided head-on with Deputy Paul Martin’s squad car on Wednesday.

The impact pushed the squad car directly into Deputy Martin, propelling him approximately 100 feet and causing fatal injuries, the Associated Press reported.
