Flares and makeshift barricades: Albanian lawmakers vote on new budget

Opposition lawmakers piled up chairs, released smoke, and set off firecrackers to disrupt parliament during a vote to approve Albania’s 2024 budget in Tirana.
Despite the attempts to interrupt the session, the annual budget and other draft laws were passed by the lawmakers. The Albanian parliament has seen several similar acts of disruption by the opposition since October.
