MiG-31 Foxhound fighter-interceptors of the 57th GIAP* photographed at Noril'sk-Alykel Airport

MiG-31 Foxhound interceptor fighters of the 57th GIAP (Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment) are literally submerged in snow.

The 57th had in fact received the new type of MiG-31 "Foxhound" interceptor three years earlier to replace the old Sukhoi Su-15TM "Flagon-F", so the Regiment sent a detachment of these aircraft to the cold Norilsk airport, in north of Siberia, where however there were no hangars or reinforced shelters.
