Celebrating 35 Years of "A Christmas Carol"

In the early 1980's Neal Radice, Executive Director of The Alleyway Theatre, thought that Buffalo needed a new holiday tradition. He remembers that "it was around that time that the area was being hit by the oil crisis, they were shutting off lights, the Christmas displays were fading away." He decided what the town needed was a dose of Dickens. Alleyway Theatre launched it's first production of "A Christmas Carol" in 1982 and Neal Radice made this promise "I promise you dear audience that we will be back year after year." That was the beginning of one of the longest running productions of the holiday classic in the country. This season the Alleyway Theatre presents its thirty-fifth annual edition of "A Christmas Carol." Associate theatre director Joyce Stilson says they get a lot of repeat customers "it's really cool because there are folks who bring their children, who saw it as children."
