Paul Murphy - The Angels Weep' . Take 2

This is/was the session laying down the song, which was only written 10 minutes beforehand.

This was the second of 4 takes, all of which were flawed in some way (not least Take 3, which has the edifying sight and sound of my thumbnail shattering off in the final verse), but I like 'em raw in any case. Let's be honest, this song ain't a lullaby to start with.

I'm surprised how short the running time is. When I was writing the lyric, the accompanying tune I had in my head was virtually the same, but at a much slower, rather insidious pace - "It's ... beat beat beat ... getting dark .... beat beat beat ...", and with a gentler vocal ; come performing time, it insisted it be speeded up, with little or no between-chord breaks, and to hell with your 62-year-old lungs. I'm never one to argue with my songs.
