A historical perspective of the Jewish population decline under Islamic rule in Palestine, and how the Crusades, the Mumlaks, the Ottomans and finally the British were complicit in the displacement of Arab Palestinians. The displacement of Jews was almost complete by 1900 due to a variety of factors and events. They only made up 3% of the population in Palestine. The Ottoman passed laws that required all landowners to get title deeds, which the Arab peasants mostly ignore, setting in motion their loss of land and their eviction by Israelis. Not all the evictions were legal, and none of them were fair, but resolving the issues is one complex mess given the belligerent parties do not trust each other.
