12 ways to seduce anyone

In the book, "The Art of Seduction," by Robert Greene, we explore some of the ruthless tactics of some of history's greatest seducers, from Cleopatra to Casanova

Here are the ways…

1. Choosing the right victim.
Your victim or target should be someone for whom you can fill a void and not those who are too eager to please you, because this type is usually looking to get something in return! Instead, find those who give out subtle hints, perhaps they are shy in your presence, perhaps they stutter or are lost for words in front of you. This type of person is open to your influence.

2. Don’t approach them directly to make them feel secure.
Initiating a relationship with someone who would be of value to you directly by asking for something will surely raise their guard making it harder for you to influence them. Instead, before making any move, reach out to them via a third party, their friends for example. or better still, develop a neutral or friendly relationship before making your next move.

3. Sending them mixed signals.
Once you've got their attention or interest, be a bit mysterious. That’ll keep your target interested and intrigued. Do not reveal too much about yourself or your real intentions.

4. Appear desirable to others.
No one chases after the unpopular! Don't make a fool of yourself, but don't be humble when you're trying to win someone over. Show off your most important connections and successes.

5. Insinuate.
Don’t be too straightforward with people you're trying to seduce, you may spook them away or even turn them against you. The best way to get people to work in your favor is by subtly dropping hints over time without revealing your true intentions. Make them think he or she is acting on his or their initiative.

6. Play by their rules.
To change people’s minds, play their games. Begin by becoming their mirror, and they will open up. Tell them what they want to hear.

7. Temp them.
Determine your target's weakness, and play to it. Find an ideal that this person is trying to realize and hint that you can lead them to it.

8. Keep them in suspense.
The moment people think they know what to expect from you is when your hold over them is broken. Keep their interest in you with the occasional surprise.

9. Poeticise your presence.
You will not win people over if you are always in their lives. Disappear without notice occasionally. Associate yourself with enjoyable experiences so that your target misses you when you're gone. By not suffocating them with your constant presence and taking a step back, they will in turn chase after you.

10. Isolate the victim. People are most vulnerable when they are shut off from everything around them. Make others feel like they are the only person who matters.

11. Give them pleasure and give them pain.
Don’t be too polite, which can have the unintended consequence of making you seem insincere and insecure. Mix compliment with blunt, straightforward insight.

12. Be bold. Once your target has demonstrated that he or she is interested in you, make your offensive move, telling them your intended goal. Be natural and bold. Not the time to be timid or awkward.
