Many people get knee pain when walking up or down stairs. This can be fixed by correcting the way you do it. In this video I will show you several tips for how to use your glutes correctly as well as the other elements of your core when you walk up or down stairs. This will reduce the pressure on the knee caps that often leads to this type of pain. When people have this type of pain when they are young, it is not a sign of physical damage, but when this problem is not corrected for many years, structural damage can develop. This is call chondromalacia patella, or wearing out of the cartilage under the knee cap. It is important to learn how to do these movement correctly to avoid this permanent damage. On other channels, you may see a recommendation to bend over at the waist so you can use your glutes better. This is terrible posture and is not how people should be walking up or down stairs. By learning the correct way to use your core, you will be able to go up and down stairs with correct posture while reducing or eliminating knee pain.
