Wildlife services believed Sinchi as they called the condor fed from carcasses of livestock treated with drugs a common cause of intoxication that has killed several other specimens of the scavenger. The condor spent seven months in treatment in a breeding reserve before technicians marked him with a satellite tracker and set it free. The condor is a distinct bird of the Andean region and is protected by South American countries being considered an endangered species. They are among the largest birds in the world that can fly.
