Is Decaf Coffee Bad for you???

- While Decaf Coffee itself is not a bad drink, it is rather the
method the Coffee bean goes through to remove the Caffeine.
1. Direct Solvent Method - Coffee Beans are steamed, soaked in a
chemical solvent like Ethyl Acetate, Methyl Chloride, & Hexane.
- Ethyl Acetate is relatively safe with very low toxicity
same with Ethanol.
- Hexane is not safe, it comes from Oil, and may cause
Peripheral Neuropathy = Numbness, Tingling, muscle weakness,
and Dermatitis.
- Methyl Chloride is not safe
- Toxic to Liver, Kidneys, and CNS. Human Carcinogen.
- Irritate eyes, skin, headaches, confusion, nausea

2. Swiss-Water Process - Beans are soaked in hot water
and is passed through an Activated Charcoal filter to
remove the Caffeine.
- The safest process! Simple and easy.

3. Carbon Dioxide (CO2) - CO2 becomes a liquid to
extract Caffeine from the bean then depressurized
to evaporate the Caffeine.
- Very Safe!

- There are other methods but these are the most
commonly used methods.

- Google your favorite brand of coffee and see if
they have a good-quality safe decaf version. I
personally really like the Bulletproof brand
Grounded Decaf Coffee.

- There is Kicking Horse, Jo, Cafe Don Pablo, and Dean's Beans Organic Coffee Company

Decaf Coffee is a good drink if you like the taste
and flavor of coffee but without the Caffeine which
may disrupt your sleep and Circadian Rhythm.
